Cliffnotes from the book "Think" by Lisa Bloom

Think: Straight talk for women to stay smart in a dumbed down world.

Sad statistics:
According to recent studies, 25% of young American women would rather win Americas Next Top Model rather than the Nobel Peace Prize.
Honestly, with what I see on a daily basis, I believe that number to be higher than that. Sad but true. But guess what?! AWARENESS IS THE FIRST STEP TO CHANGE

Why is this ok? Well, lets look at history. until the 1963 Equal Pay Act, it was perfectly legal for employers to pay women less than men for doing the same job. Now, young urban childless women out earn their male counterparts, mainly because they're better educated.

Another grim example: Girls and young women earnestly analyze whether Angelina Jolie has another baby bump but know nothing about her life's work: bringing aid to millions of innocent refugees, people for who our attention means the difference between life and death.

Young women these days have little motivation to think because the rewards for being hot are so powerful.

Then, in the middle years a new wave of non thinking sets in. Married women and working moms spin themselves ragged by the whole work-kids-housework-rinse-repeat cycle.

And then after age 55, the age group likes to rest and zone out in front of the tv significantly more than any other age group, relinquishing a full 25% of their golden years to Cialis ads and watching the Kardashians. As a result, seniors are the most overweight and obese age group.

Whats the media feeding us? Why are we giving in to this mental brainwashing?

Lisa's father always told her "Mull it over yourself-deeply. Go to your core principles. Examine the facts: Whats really going on? Think, Lisa, think. "
